Pakistan HC observes Exploitation Day in solidarity with Kashmiris

The High Commission of Pakistan in the Maldives, on Monday, celebrated Youm-e-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation) in solidarity with Kashmiris.

The occasion was celebrated at a function held at the Pakistan High Commission and was attended by High Commissioner of Pakistan to Maldives Vice Admiral (Retired) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani, Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain Ahmad and Pakistani and Maldivian citizens.

Pakistan marks August 5 as the Day of Exploitation in protest of India’s unilateral strike down of Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian constitution on August 5, 2019 – which are provisions of the constitution gave which gave special status to Kashmir.

Pakistan stresses that this is a blatant violation of the Shimla Agreement between the two countries and the United Nations Security Council's binding Resolutions 47, 51, 80 and 91, which embody the principle that "final disposition of the state of Jammu and Kashmir will be made in accordance with the will of the people expressed through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite conducted under the auspices of the United Nations (UN)."

Speaking at the event, High Commissioner Gilani emphasized the significance of the occasion. He also condemned the brutalities of the Indian occupying forces in Jammu and Kashmir while paying homage to the sacrifices of Kashmiris against the oppression.

He invited the attention of the international community to urge India to stop human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, called on India to reverse its unilateral and illegal actions on August 5th and the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

He affirmed that Pakistan will never withdraw from its principled stance on Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated Pakistan’s moral, political, and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir in their just struggle for the right to self-determination, as promised to them by the international community through the UN Security Council Resolutions.

Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain who also spoke at the ceremony highlighted the highlighting historic perspective of Jammu Kashmir dispute. In this regard, he underscored that three successive generations of innocent Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives. However, he stressed that the day Kashmiris will see the “Sun of Freedom” is not far, by the will of Almighty Allah.

During the function, a brief documentary on the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir was showcased, while special prayers were offered for the martyrs of Kashmir and the freedom of Kashmir.
