Pakistan High Commissioner: Working with Maldivian govt. in area of sports

Pakistan High Commissioner to the Maldives Vice Admiral (Retired) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani states the mission is working alongside the Maldivian government in the area of sports.

He made the remark while speaking at a friendly cricket match between Pakistan High Commission and Habib Bank Limited’s Maldives' teams on Friday.

Speaking at the friendly match held at Ekuveni Cricket Ground in Male’ City, High Commissioner Gilani appreciated the sportsperson spirit in the community members. He underscored that sports is important to the society because it promotes physical fitness and encourages community engagement.

“Participating in sports helps individuals to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle, while also fostering a sense of belonging and unity within communities,” he added.

He also revealed that the High Commission was cooperating with the Maldivian government in the area of sports, adding the mission has been enjoying close cooperation with the Cricket Board of Maldives to promote the sports further in the island nation.

Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain Ahmad who also attended the match expressed that the sports bring people together, break down social barriers, and provide a platform for individuals to showcase their talents and skills.

Pakistan High Commission won the friendly match and was awarded a cricket bat as a gift. The team was headed by Zahid Mehboob Chaudhry.

HBL team was headed by Country Manager Muhmmad Shoaib Awan.

Awan thanked the High Commissioner for his ever-available cooperation for such healthy activities.

A cake was cut at the conclusion of the event to enjoy the happy moments.
