Over 1,000 unregistered vehicles in Greater Male’ region

Over 1,100 vehicles in the Greater Male’ region are unregistered, states the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.

At the “Male’ Fahi” program’s inauguration on Wednesday evening, a report revealed that over 118,000 vehicles are registered in the region, with multiple instances of individuals owning more than one vehicle.

Many of these vehicles were acquired through loans, which their owners are now struggling to repay.  Due to depreciation and outstanding loans, these vehicles cannot be sold at market value and remain idle.

To address congestion and space loss caused by idle vehicles on Greater Male’ streets, the ministry has designated specific plots for parking vehicles imported for commercial use or sale.
