PNC secures 5 seats with Bilehdhoo, Kulhudhuffushi win

The ruling People's National Congress (PNC) has secured five seats from Saturday's by-elections.

The ruling party secured all three vacant seats of Male' City Council at Saturday's by-election in the capital, while Faafu atoll Bilehdhoo's by-election sought a new president and Kulhudhuffushi City's by-election sought to add a north-Kulhudhuffushi constituency member. The two seats were secured by PNC candidates as well.

Besides this, a by-election was held in Raa atoll Rasmaadhoo to elect a female member for the council's vacant seat.

Fathimath Ishan Ali won the Central-Machchangolhi seat, Ali Aiman secured Hulhumale' seat, and West-Henveiru seat was secured by Fathimath Shaufa Saleem in the Male' City by-election. Areeh Ismail won Bilehdhoo council president's position while Ibrahim Ahmed secured north-Kulhudhuffushi seat the northern city's council.

Rasmaadhoo council's seat for the female member was secured by independent candidate Aishath Sharafiyya.

The ruling party congratulated all the members who won their council seats at the by-elections.
