Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) has denied allegations that it had sold fuel, significantly dilatated with water, at Gaafu Alifu Atoll islands of Nilandhoo and Maamendhoo.

FSM, in a statement on Tuesday, said the allegations circulating on social media claiming they had sold watered-down fuel were simply false.

The company further said all of their barges are equipped with equipment that can test for water as part of their efforts to ensure the quality of fuel sold by the company. In this trajectory, FSM said it only sells fuel after conducting comprehensive quality assurance tests.

To ensure the quality of fuel is maintained, FSM has urged sellers to develop the necessary fuel storage facilities in compliance with the regulations and the instructions of the relevant authorities.
