Maldivian in Bangladesh mosque site gets in accident

Hussain Haisham; his hospital expenses will be covered by a Bangladeshi NGO.

A Maldivian in Bangladesh working at mosque development site was involved in an accident on Monday. The local is working in the construction site on behalf of 'Khidhumaiy Jamiyya'.

According to reports, the victim has been identified as Hussain Haisham, the operations manager of the construction team from the association.

The association, while speaking with 'Sun' confirmed Haisham got into an accident en route to Chittagong on Sunday morning. The accident occured when the driver of the car Haisham was traveling in fell asleep behind the steering wheel owing to the lengthy trip.

Besides Haisham, another Maldivian was present in the car at the time of the incident, but had not sustained significant injuries.

Haisham who was at the front passenger seat had broken his leg. The driver's arm was broken as well, while the car was damaged beyond repair.

While he required surgery, Haisham was not transported to a hospital because of the lengthy trip they had to make. However, he was transferred for operation now.

"He has been taken in for surgery now, everything is going well," the association said.

A Bangladeshi NGO has stepped up to cover Haisham's hospital expenses.
