Indian Ambassador pays courtesy call on President Muizzu

The Indian Ambassador to the Maldives Munu Mahawar has paid a courtesy visit on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday.

The meeting was held at President’s Office on Sunday afternoon.

During the meeting, the two talked in length on expanding areas of cooperation for mutual benefit for the two countries, and touched on the ongoing projects carried by Indian companies in the Maldives.

Ambassador Mahawar thanked President Muizzu for attending the third-time swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He further assured India’s continued support and assistance to the Maldivian people and the government in any required capacity. Mahawar also emphasized on the successful cooperative efforts and initiatives carried out between the two countries in the past and currently.

President Muizzu emphasized India’s instrumental role in the development and progress of the Maldives, and thanked the Indian government for remaining a consistent ally and among the first to aid the island nation in any critical situation.

The two concluded their meeting on the renewed hope of strengthening the bilateral relations further, while emphasizing on the importance of supporting India’s efforts of maintaining peace in the Indian Ocean region.

President Muizzu was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer at the meeting.

President’s Office, reflecting this meeting, said Dr. Muizzu’s administration foreign policy prioritized cooperation with all of its allies, and remains committed on upholding its multilateral and international ties to ensure faster progress of the Maldives.
