MIFCO, on Sunday, stated that the employees the company dismissed were neglecting their jobs, adding they will follow the same process with employees who neglect their jobs in the future as well.

Many have shared dismissal letters on social media claiming a large number of employees employed at MIFCO’s fish factory based at Lh. Felivaru are being dismissed.

Commenting on the claims, MIFCO’s Public Relations Manager Ahmed Navaz Rasheed told Sun that the company only dismissed employees at its Kooddoo facility, adding that they were dismissed for poor discipline in the work environment and unsatisfactory attendance.

“They include issues such as absences for five consecutive days or fifteen consecutive days without providing any updates on reasoning. There is a time for everything,” he said.

Nawaz, noting there are various ways to inform the individual whom the employee reports to if they unable to attend work, said the employees who were dismissed were individuals who have not conformed as per the records.

He further said the company, in the future as well, will continue to take action against employees who do not adhere to the regulations of the company and employment laws,

Nawaz, underscoring that a program was underway to restructure the company, said the company has been instructed by the government to cut down expenditures.

He added that the total number of employees that will be dismissed can only identified following the completion of the program.
