MDP opens applications for national council by-election to elect constituency leaders

Main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has opened applications for the party’s National Council by-election.

In a statement on Monday, MDP said it has opened applications for posts that remain vacant in the party’s National Council.

The by-election, as per the party, will be held on August 2^nd.

With this by-election, the party seeks to elect presidents for 29 constituencies including Male’ City, Kulhudhuffushi City and Thinadhoo City.

Prospective applicants must meet the following requests:

Registered as a member of the party as of July 1^st, 2024

Should not have violated the party’s articles of association within the past five years

Interested individuals have been instructed to submit their application form by 2:00pm on Sunday, July 7^th.

The application form includes a declaration that states if elected, the individual will remain a member of MDP. If not, action will be taken against them.
