The rainy weather will prevail across the Maldives over the next two days, says the national weather agency.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms in northern and central parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

Winds are expected to blow in the southwest/westerly direction at 13 – 23 miles per hour in northern and central areas, with gusts of 40-45 miles per hour during showers.

Seas are expected to be rough.

The weather agency said the current rainy weather is the result of the Hulhangu Monsoon.

While the agency forecasts heavy rain for northern and central Maldives, the weather is expected to be better in southern parts of the country.

Seas are expected to be slight, with waves of 2-4 feet.

The weather agency advised seafarers to exercise caution.
