Action has been taken against most cases forwarded by ACC: PG Office

The Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office has said that action has been taken against 82 percent of cases forwarded by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) from 2008 until 30 September 2012.

PG Office said that from 2008 until 30 September 2012, 90 cases were sent to them by ACC, of which action had been taken against 47 percent or 42 cases.

PG Office said that the commission had been requested for further information on 15 cases,or 17 percent of cases forwarded by ACC during that period.

Also, no decision has been made on filing 18 percent or 16 cases to court, and action had been taken on 82 percent or 74 cases forwarded by ACC during that period.

PG Office said that statistics agreed on by ACC and PG Office had been forwarded to the parliament by ACC as notified by the Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions.

They said that efforts are also under way through discussions between the two institutions, to strengthen the policies on taking action on the cases forwarded by ACC.
