Teacher training with AI to commence

Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu on Sunday, said the government will launch teacher training to help them teach students using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In his address to mark the commencement of the new academic year, the minister highlighted the importance of training teachers with technological innovations to stay on par with global education sector.

The minister emphasized that such progress should be aligned with the principles and high values of Islamic faith.

"This new academic year, we will priotize training educators to enhance AI-assisted teaching and learning practices, inclusive learning and the use of assistive-technology in teaching, and foster awareness among teachers to these technological advancements," Minister Shafeeu said.

He further stressed the importance of training educators to ensure high-quality learning experiences for students, and pointed out to the limitation of highly-qualified teachers in the education sector as a primary challenge.

The minister assured to work in accordance with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's pledge for education sector development.

"Quality education and development for students can only be ensured by training qualified teachers," the minister added.

The Education Ministry also revealed plans for a nationwide program, scheduled to launch this year, to train local teachers, elevating their capabilities to provide high-standard education for students.
