Ungoofaaru electrocution victim brought to Male' for further treatment

The 18-year-old individual electrocuted in R. Ungoofaaru has been brought to Male' City for further medical treatment.

The youth's father spoke with 'Sun' confirming they were brought to Male' around 19:30hrs on Saturday evening.

Ungoofaaru Hospital earlier reported three kids were injured in the incident including the 18-year-old who was brought to Male'.

The hospitals Manager Hussain Asif said the youth received some minor injuries to their face from falling down, but had sustained significant internal injuries.

The victim's father said CPR was administered to the victim for an hour, after which the doctor informed CPR would be administered after half an hour and confirmed the victim's lungs and heart were not functioning.

According to the father, the victim's lungs and heart were functioning properly after a half an hour, as informed by the doctor who said the victim was transferred to ICU.

The other two victims who injurred in the incident have been discharged after treatment. The two did not sustain significant injuries.

Ungoofaaru Hospital's Manager said the 12-year-old girl, who was among the victims, was first electrocuted and informed about it to her family.

A moment later, the second victim, an eight-year-old boy, was electrocuted and started crying, to which the 18-year-old adolescent had gone out to help and got electrocuted himself.

Meanwhile, Maldives Police Service is investigating the case.
