School hours cut short for first 3 days of new academic year

Ministry of Education has announced the decision to shorten the school hours for the first three days of the new academic year owing to current weather conditions.

In a circular the ministry sent out to all the schools, it said the decision was made to ensure students do not miss out on their classes.

Besides this, the ministry has further requested from the schools to host special programs raising awareness on health and well-being, bullying, and respect - to be conducted on the days with shortened school hours.

The ministry ordered to shorten the school hours between two to three hours.

While the academic new year is around the corner, the Maldives is currently experiencing bad weather conditions throughout the country.

Transportation, especially by sea, is currently in limbo while those who traveled outside of their islands on vacation are currently unable to return back.
