Maldives Zakat House on Thursday said, the opportunity to get listed in the poor and low-income citizens' registry is now open for those eligible from Male' City.

Zakat House said new registration opportunities will be open effectively from Sunday, next week. Interested citizens may submit application forms between 09:30hrs and 12:00hrs on week days during the registration period.

The authority also said that among those who received Zakat this year, the individuals who were removed from the registry owing to various circumstances, but were not informed, will be listed in the poor citizens' registry - and will not be required to fill new applications.

The application form is available from Zakat House's counter and from its official website. The applications should be submitted physically at the counter.

Previously Zakat affairs were handled by a designated section under the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

However, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu established the Zakat House with the vision of enhancing Zakat proceedings, and to eliminate poverty from the Maldives.
