The Maldives government on Sunday, has confirmed Flat Committee's works will wrap up before the development of the social housing flats in Hulhumale' Phase II conclude.

The Chief Spokesperson of President's Office, Heena Waleed confirmed this at the press conference held on Sunday.

In response to questions from local media, Heena said the works of Flat Committee were apace, assuring the flats would be allocated to its recipients soon.

While noting the flats are currently under development, Heena assured the committee's works will conclude before the development of the units are completed.

"We noticed several issues from the feedback provided by ACC. Work on the flats have not concluded, but the committee's decisions about them will be concluded before the units are developed with the subsequent awarding of the flats to their recipients," Heena commented.

After the previous government publicized the list of recipients eligible for the 4,000 social housing flats under the Gedhoruveriya Scheme, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) stopped its proceedings citing discrepancies, and subsequently launched an investigation into the matter.

The commission earlier on April 01st, extended permission to award the flats to recipients by presenting some conditions.

Although ACC has permitted issuing flats to the recipients who were correctly awarded with points, it noted 59.6% of the recipients were not eligible for the social housing.
