Three guilty of littering Male' City streets fined

Male' City Council has once again fined individuals for littering the city's streets.

The council began fining individuals for public littering owing to the rampant increase in similar cases.

Male' City Council on Thursday, confirmed via X, the authority had identified three individuals using CCTV footage, catching them in the act. The authority added each individual has been fined with MVR 500.

The authority had shared video footage of the individuals in their social media post as well.

The city's Mayor Adam Azim more recently, had shared a list of all the public venues where trash is discarded by the public regularly.

Azim had requested the public to send pictures and videos of litterers to the council's Viber and WhatsApp number 9341144.

The council urged the citizens to maintain cleanliness of public venues and the city, noting it was a civic responsibility of all.
