Pres extends condolences on Shahid's father's passing

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday, has extended condolences to former Minister of Foreign Affairs and current MDP leader Abdulla Shahid, and his family over his father's passing.

Shahid on Wednesday confirmed via X (formerly Twitter) his father passed in the morning.

President Muizzu in response said he was disheartened to hear about the demise of Sheikh Moosa Jameel, and extended his condolences to the entire family.

Former President and current MDP Advisor Ibrahim Mohamed Solih extended his condolences as well.

Solih in his message said Sheikh Moosa Jameel served in multiple fields, and his contribution in religious knowledge and Dhivehi language are among the most unparalleled dedication to the country.

Ruling PNC coalition shared its statement of condolence as well, and emphasized the party remains steadfast with Shahid and his family at this difficult hour.

The late Sheikh Moosa Jameel's funeral prayer was held after Asr prayer on Wednesday afternoon at the Islamic Center.
