President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Wednesday, has cited creating various opportunities within the sports sector as an important policy of his administration.
He made the remark while responding to Mohamed Nisham from Lh. Maamendhoo who inquired regarding the President’s pledges to develop sports arenas during his presidential campaign on the ‘Raees ge Javaabu’ series on Wednesday; a platform that enables the public to get direct responses to their queries and concerns from the President.
Nisham, in this regard, had wished to clarify "when these sports arenas will be seen” in accordance with the President’s pledge.
Responding to the query, President said a separate ministry for sports was incepted in his administration because of the high priority allocated for sports.

“It is a crucial policy for us; whether be it developing facilities to play sports or facilitating various resources for sports players such as healthcare or training,” he said.
Speaking further, President Muizzu noted physical works on the development of facilities to play sports were underway at various islands in accordance with his pledge. He provided assurance that an abundance of work will proceed within this year to build sports arenas and specific courts.
Speaking at a gathering at Hulhumale’ Phase II’s Hiyaa area on Tuesday night – President Muizzu shared the specific details of projects underway.
Underscoring that 84 projects pertaining to various kinds of stadiums and courts had been halted when the current administration assumed office, the President 71 projects out of these projects have been resumed; some of which have now reached completion. 48 projects pertaining to various kinds of stadiums and courts are still ongoing, he added.
