Auditor General advises to claim MVR49 million overdue from Kadhdhoo and Kaadedhdhoo

The Auditor General has advised to claim through the courts, a sum of MVR48.89 million overdue as rents, fines and electricity bills from Laamu Kadhdhoo and Gaafu Dhaalu Kaadedhdhoo Airport guest houses.

In the Audit Report of Transport Ministry for 2011 released yesterday, the Auditor General Niyaz Ibrahim stated that an amount of MVR48,664,744.52 was overdue as fines and rent from parties that had rented the Kadhdhoo Airport guesthouses, and an amount of MVR37,863 was overdue as electricity charges of the guest houses. It said that the amounts remained outstanding by the end of July last year.

The Audit Report states that by the end of April 2012, an amount of MVR154,583 was overdue as room rent, and MVR30,658 as electricity bills for Kaadedhdhoo Airport. The report also said that some of the bills have been overdue for nearly a year.
