Seven held in remand over assault on PG

Maldives Police Service on Sunday, March 03, 2024, has said seven suspects have been apprehended and remanded by the Criminal Court for their alleged involvement in the attack on Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem.

In a message shared by the police with local media, all seven suspects arrested in the case are local men.

The suspects all have been remanded by the Criminal Court until the conclusion of their trials.

Police further revealed the case is still under investigation.

Shameem was attached on January 31 by two individuals on a motorbike. The prosecutor general received injuries to his left arm.

Following the attack on Shameem, MNDF increased his security detail.
