Constituents of the Dh. Meedhoo electoral district have appealed to their incumbent parliamentary representative, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, to run for a fifth term.

The Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) president attended a gathering on Friday night, attended by community leaders from both Bandidhoo and Hulhudheli.

During the gathering, which lasted hours, many of the attendees appealed to Siyam to run for a fifth term in the Parliament.

They said that Siyam was important for the district, and noted the various contributions he has made over the years.

“The people noted the massive development he has brought over the last 20 years. They also noted the significant assistance to individual islands,” said one of the attendees.

Addressing the gathering, Siyam said he would make his decision following a similar meeting with voters from Meedhoo and Rinbidhoo on Saturday night.

He said that he would announce his decision after the meeting.

At Friday’s gathering, community leaders said Siyam held the respect and admiration of the district’s citizens, like no other political leader.
