President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says his administration’s largest housing project, Rasmale’, to be developed by reclaiming Fushidhiggaru Falhu.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Male’ City’s new mayor and three councilors – President Muizzu said the underwater tunnel will be developed to showcase the beautiful underwater scenery while traveling on train.

“We have commenced feasibility works with respect to this with qualified companies. This is a major tourism project. This project will increase tourists visiting the Maldives,” he said.

President Muizzu said Male’ area residents will be residing at linked islands under his administration’s efforts. He also announced plans to develop bridges across Maldivian regions outside of the Male’ area.

Underscoring it was emphasized during his campaign that his administration would place the highest priority on housing crisis after major national issues, President Muizzu assured the policy remained the same. In this trajectory, he said the housing issues faced in the Maldives will completely be resolved by the end of the current administration’s five-year term with the efforts in the pipeline.

“I am providing this guarantee with utmost certainty. Hopefully, we will be carrying out this work in collaboration with all councils. This is not a political agenda. It’s a national agenda,” he said.

“If this is politicized, it will adversely impact the residents,” he added.

Rasmale’ project will see the reclamation of 1,113 hectares which President Muizzu said is triple the size of both phases of Hulhumale’ combined.

The government aims to complete the reclamation which commenced in December within eight months.
