Elections Commission (EC) states they have received a total of 746 complaints to the list of voters for the upcoming parliamentary election.
Briefing Sun regarding the complaints received to the list, EC’s Vice Chairperson Ismail Habeeb, on Monday, said the largest number of complaints – accounting for 450 – pertained to changes in the address of voters.
225 complaints were received regarding the inclusion of deceased persons on the list and 40 complaints were received over change of the constituency of voters.
Additionally, five complaints were received for non-inclusion of their names despite being eligible to vote and one complaint was received over a change in the information on ID card.
EC has announced March 17th as the date for the parliamentary election, which falls on Ramadan.
A total of 287,327 people are eligible to vote in the election; 145,162 men and 139,165 women.
MPs will be elected for 90 constituencies for the 20th parliament during this election.
EC has opened registration for visually impaired individuals to register to vote after making arrangements for them to vote independently, without assistance.
