Zikura Mosque vandal ID’d as person with disabilities; no arrest

Police said that they have identified the suspect in the egging of the Zikura Mosque in Male’ City as a person with disabilities.

Eggs were found splattered inside the mosque by prayer goers on Tuesday, as they visited the mosque to perform the Fajr prayer. Pictures of the scene was shared on social media.

A police spokesperson said on Wednesday that they have identified the suspect as a person with disabilities, and have therefore not taken him into custody.

The police said they were investigating the case in collaboration with other relevant authorities.

A prayer goer who was among the first to see the eggs splatters told Sun that they had immediately reported it to the Male’ City Council, but that the council failed to take any action.
