Maafushi-bound cargo boat runs aground

A cargo boat travelling from Kaafu Thulusdhoo to Kaafu Maafushi has run aground a reef off Gulhi, resulting in extensive damages.

 According to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), the boat ‘Donatella’ ran around on a reef off Gulhi at around 07:30 am Saturday.

The four crew members were rescued by the MNDF Coast Guard Second Squadron, and transported to Male’ City.

The Coast Guard is assisting the boat’s owner in refloating the vessel.
