President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Ali Abdul Latheef as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
He was presented with his letter of appointment during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Tuesday.
His oath was administered by Supreme Court Justice Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim.
Abdul Latheef was elected to JSC as the representative for lawyers in a vote administered by the Bar Council last week.
Abdul Latheef had been the sole candidate who met requirements. The two other candidates - former High Court chief judge Shujau Usman and former Civil Court judge Zubair Mohamed – were rejected by the Bar Council.
