Emidone, a medication that has been banned in the Maldives.

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has banned the import and sale of the medication Emidone.

MFDA announced the ban on the import and sale of Emidone, a medication produced in Pakistan, citing contamination with two harmful substances; diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol.

Effective of Monday, the import and sale of any batches of the medication has been banned in the Maldives.

MFDA warned parties importing and selling medication in the Maldives to adhere to the ban.

They have also instructed parties importing and selling Emidone in the Maldives to destroy the medication that has already been imported in accordance with the stipulated regulations.
