President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Dr. Mahmood Shaugy as the Chancellor at the Maldives National University (MNU).
The appointment, along with other appointments to university governance boards were made during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Sunday.
Shaugy attained his PhD from the Alberta University of Canada.
He previously served a tourism minister, education minister, and higher education minister.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam was appointed as the Vice Chancellor at MNU, while Dr. Ali Zahir was appointed as the Vice Chancellor at the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM).
President Muizzu also made two minister-level appointments; Iqbal Adam as Minister at the Presidential Palace, and Mohamed Hussain Shareef as the Ambassador-at-large at the Foreign Ministry.
He also made three appointments at the state minister-level are; Mohamed Waheed Hassan as Chief of Staff at the Vice President's Residence, Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath as Head of the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT), and Mohamed Sham’aan Waheed as the Controller General of Immigration.
