New salary framework for police, MNDF sent last minute

The President’s Office’s Spokesperson Miuvaan Mohamed, on Thursday, said the new salary framework for Maldives Police Service (MPS) and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) was sent to both institutions today; the last working day of the current administration.

Miuvaan, via a post on X on Thursday, said National Pay Commission has sent the new salary framework for both MPS and MNDF today.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih pledged to increase the salaries of both police and soldiers while speaking at a ceremony held on April 29th to mark the 90th anniversary of MPS.

However, the pledge was announced without a specific day the salary increment will be coming into force.

President elect Dr. Mohmaed Muizzu, who is scheduled to be sworn in tomorrow, had also pledged to increase the salaries of police and soldiers by twice the current framework during his presidential campaign.

He made the pledge during a campaign event held by the PPM-PNC coalition in Male’ City on September 15th
