Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has opened a new investigation against HDh. Atoll’s chief magistrate Ali Adam, three months after the commission requested the Parliament for his dismissal after he was found to have called and harassed a woman who filed a divorce petition with the court.
In a statement on Thursday, JSC said that a new investigation into Ali Adam found he had called and harassed another divorce petitioner. The commission said it decided on Wednesday to request the Parliament again, for his dismissal.
The commission said that they were also close to finishing an investigation into a third case against the same magistrate.
The commission expressed concern over the failure of the Parliament to make a decision in the original case.
The JSC had requested the Parliament for Ali Adam’s dismissal on July 23.
It was forwarded to the Parliament’s Judiciary Committee for review on October 10.
Ali Adam has been on suspension since May.
Around the same time, the police arrested two people for threatening to kill Ali Adam. The suspects, identified as a 23-year-old and a 25-year-old, reportedly made the threat after confronting Ali Adam at the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.
However, it is unclear if the two cases are related.
