All media stations in the Maldives are collaborating to hold a telethon to aid Palestinians in besieged Gaza.

Israel has declared war on Palestine, after Hamas launched a massive military operation into Israeli territory on October 7, in response to Israeli violation of the Al Aqsa Mosque and increased attacks on Palestinians by Israeli settlers.

Israeli forces continue pounding the Gaza Strip for a fifth day, killing at least 1,055 Palestinians, leveling down buildings, and enforcing a total blockade on the besieged enclave.

In a press conference on Wednesday, the International Aid Campaign (IAC)’s international relations director Mohamed Ali said Palestine holds a special place in the hearts of the Maldivian people, and that the organization has always paid a special focus on the plight of the Palestinian people.

IAC’s vice chairman Adam Naif said the organization has a number of events planned for the upcoming week.

Donation boxes will be kept all mosques in the greater Male’ area at 11:00 am Friday. Naif asked for people to help expand the event nationwide.

PLANNED EVENTS:

  • Installation of donation boxes at mosques on Friday
  • A demonstration by women at the Artificial Beach area in Male’ on Friday
  • A rally organized by racing associations at the Hulhumale’ Central Park on Friday
  • A silent protest at the Artificial Beach area in Male’ on Saturday night

Naif asked as many people as possible to join the events and help the Palestinian people.

“I know your blood is boiling. But please, everyone must maintain their discipline. Children take part in all our protests. Don’t say whatever you want, damage property, or assault people or do anything of the sort,” he said.

IAC has been distributing hot meals to medical personal in three hospitals in Gaza since the war broke out on October 7. The organization is also distributing 1,000 meals to Palestinians, even now.
