The Office of the President-elect has been allocated office space on the fifth floor of the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) building.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih instituted the Office of the President-elect under the Presidential Transition Act (Law No. 05/2010) on Thursday, which is aimed at facilitating the President-elect to execute his duties and responsibilities during the government transition.
The directive that instituted the office mandates that crucial information about government agencies be prepared for the president-elect to ensure a smooth power transfer that does not disrupt government operations or interrupt services provided by the government to the citizens.
In his directive, President Solih also implored all personnel appointed by him to continue performing their assigned duties and responsibilities until the conclusion of his current presidential term.
The establishment of the 'Office of the President-elect' comes after president-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s appointment of PNC’s Chairperson Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey) as the director general of transition and Firuzul Abdulla Khaleel as the transitional spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Hussain Amir, Secretary of Corporate Services at the President's Office has been designated by President Solih to manage this matter on behalf of the President's Office.
