15 teams mobilized for ‘speedy’ transitional work

Over a dozen teams have been set up for the transfer of power to the incoming administration, with the goal of conducting “speedy but careful” work during the transition process, says Firuzul Abdulla Khaleel, the spokesperson for the transitional committee.

In a press conference by the office of the president-elect on Saturday, Firuzul said total 15 teams are involved in transitional work; seven teams involved in collecting information from state-owned enterprises and eight involved in collecting information from government ministries and offices.

Firuzul said the teams will collect information regarding affairs already publicized by the president’s office.

“On this note, I want to stress we want to carry out this work extremely carefully, but also very speedily. Even as I say this, I understand these two things are the antithesis of each other,” he said.

Firuzul said they hope to create a balance.

He also thanked the outgoing administration for its cooperation.

“Next, I want to note that we have been receiving sufficient cooperation from the incumbent administration, starting from the president. I would like to thank them for that,” he said.

Firuzul added that the office is preparing to send invites to the leaders of neighboring countries and other friendly nations for the swearing in ceremony of the president-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The opposition PPM-PNC’s Muizzu won the presidential runoff election held on September 30 with 54 percent of votes, beating MDP’s Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the incumbent president, who won 46 percent.

He will be sworn into office on November 17.
