City council workers have begun taking down the campaign banners put up in the streets of Male' for the presidential election - which ended last Saturday.

Male’ City Council said it began taking down the banners on Tuesday.

This year's presidential election went on for two rounds. All eight candidates that contested the first round of the elections put up banners and posters all around Male’.

The streets that had the most banners include Ameenee Magu, Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Maaveyo Magu, and Sosun Magu.

Larger vehicles faced some issues in travelling through streets due to how some parties had draped their banners.
