Finance Minister denies rumors alleging govt’s plan to take MVR 3B loan

Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer has denied allegations claiming the Maldivian government has proposed to withdraw an MVR 3 billion loan from the Indian government.

The denial comes after a media outlet shared a report on Thursday claiming the Maldivian government requested an additional MVR 3 billion loan from the Indian government, and in this trajectory, the Finance Minister met with the Indian Ambassador to the Maldives to discuss the matter.

Minister Ameer, denying the report, said no such discussion has been held with any party.

Various allegations have been aimed at the government as the presidential election’s run-off nears – all of which have been denied by the government.
