A policy has been established through which nurses who were demoted because of the new pay framework based on their experience, while the responsibilities of their job remain the same, can be reinstated to their previous rank.
President’s Office spokesperson Miuvaan Mohamed said on Wednesday that the decision was made by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih following of a review of complaints received from medical officers and nurses regarding the pay framework.
As such, nurses who were demoted based of their level of experience will be reinstated under the condition that they engage in further studies.
The grace period for nurses to study has been extended from 2018 to 2026.
Furthermore, nurses and doctors will receive medical allowance if they report to work on non-working days.
And, all non-clinical nurses have been changed to clinical nurses.
Miuvan said the president has also changed the policy on issuance of benefits to teachers upon resignation.
As such, the 18-month period given to chose benefits upon resignation has been extended to January next year.
