With 20 days left to the election, the EC is making the latest preparations for nationwide polls.

The final list of 282,395 eligible voters released by the EC is an increase of over 27,000 voters from the tentative list.

This includes:

  • Two in Colombo, Sri Lanka
  • Two in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
  • One in Trivandrum, India

The EC has advised voters to check the location of their polling stations beforehand.

Voters can send a text to 1414 with the keyword ‘VR’ and their national ID card number to check the location.

Over 1,700 have applied with the EC to become observers in the election, which will take place on September 9.

This year’s election is seeing the greatest number of candidates to date – with eight presidential hopefuls. This includes five candidates from political parties, and three independent candidates.
