Presidential debate slated for September 1st

State broadcaster, Public Service Media (PSM) has announced their decision to hold the debate of presidential candidates contesting in the election slated for September 9^th on September 1^st.

The presidential debate, as per PSM, will be held at 9:00pm on Friday, September 1^st. Candidates will share their visions, policies and hopes for the next five-year term during the debate.

PSM states opportunity is there for other media outlets to broadcast the presidential debate in collaboration with them.

Eight candidates will face off elections;

1 – Former Home Minister Umar Naseer (Independent Candidate)

2 – Former Deputy Defense Minister Hassan Zameel (Independent Candidate)

3 – President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Maldivian Democratic Party)

4 – Male' City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu (People’s National Congress)

5 – Qasim Ibrahim (Jumhoory Party)

6 – Ahmed Faris Maumoon (Independent Candidate)

7 – Hulhudhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb (The Democrats)

8 – Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim (Maldives National Party)

All eight of them have been campaigning across the nation, revealing their manifestos and pledges.
