The suspect who was arrested for threatening Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Eva Abdulla has been released from custody after the confiscation of mobile phone.
A Police Spokesperson told Sun on Wednesday that the suspect was released last night, after enforcing the court order, ordering the arrest.
“The suspect’s phone has been seized by the police,” the Spokesperson added.
The suspect arrested sometime last night, as per the police, is accused of threatening Eva on Twitter by leveraging a photo of her son.
The arrest comes after a fake Twitter profile in Eva’s son's name recently surfaced, which used his picture to bully and harass him.
In a Tweet after the account became active, Eva stressed that harassing her son through a concealed identity absolutely unacceptable and urged police to investigate the matter.
Male City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was the target of a death threat last night. The death threat which was sent to his wife’s phone from a Thailand mobile number. The case has also been submitted to the police for investigation.
