Ooredoo’s new office building to open next month

Ooredoo Maldives has announced that its new head office building, developed near the Central Park in Hulhumale’, will open next month.

In a press conference on occasion of Ooredoo Maldives’ 18th anniversary on Tuesday, the company’s CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi said that construction work on the new building is done, and that the company will begin moving to the new building this month.

He said that the building will officially open next month.

“This building is highly customized to suit our needs,” he said.

Al-Hamadi said the new building has solar panels on the roof, and two basement floors.

The building, constructed by China’s CCEC, has 11 floors, including the basement.

Ooredoo Maldives was allocated land from Hulhumale’ for the construction of its new head office in March 2017. Construction work began in 2019.

PEACE CABLE TO KULHUDHUFFUSHI

Al-Hamadi said that the PEACE submarine cable system, which spans Asia, Africa and Europe, will be linked to Kulhudhuffushi City in the last quarter of this year.

“This will greatly boost our capacity to support low latencies. It will also help reduce Maldives’ carbon emissions,” he said.

According to Ooredoo, the cable system will enhance Maldives’ digital infrastructure and facilitate resources and services to provide innovative technologies.

The system will link Maldives with countries in Asia, Europe, and East Africa.

The project was announced by Ooredoo Maldives in December 2021.
