President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih states the ‘oneGov’ platform launched Monday will allow people to access services from all public offices, from anywhere, anytime.

The oneGov platform was launched by the president in a ceremony held at the Sultan Park on Monday morning.

Speaking at the ceremony, the president described the launch of the platform as an important step in decentralized and people-centric governance.

“A digital government doesn’t close its doors and discontinue services once official work hours are over. This will allow people to access public services from anywhere in the world,” he said.

He said that oneGov is home to streamlined, integrated and digital public services, where the services of all government ministries and institutions are available.

“The oneGov launched today is the dawn of a digital government. The most special attribute of this government is that it is bringing public services to the fingertips of those who want it,” he said.

President Solih said that a digital government is especially important for an island nation like Maldives. He said a digital government is crucial for the Maldives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

“A digital government is also important for the Maldivian people in light of the effects of climate change,” he said.

President Solih said that the Maldivian people had always faced difficulties accessing public services. He said that the oneGov network brings an end to the need for people from outer lying islands to cross rough seas to travel to Male’ to access public services.

“There will be certain benefits when a digital government starts running. For one thing, this digital strategy will significantly minimize room for corruption,” he said.

The president said that instead of calling separate government offices, people can call oneGov’s hotline 1500 to get information regarding services offered by all government offices.
