Maldivian Vice President Faisal Naseem on Tuesday returned to Maldives from Makkah, Saudi Arabia, after completing the holy hajj pilgrimage.

Faisal, who was appointed as the Amir al-Hajj by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for this year, left for Makkah on June 22.

Maldives received a quota of 1,000 pilgrims for this year’s hajj pilgrimage. In addition to Maldives Hajj Corporation, three private companies received 90 spots each to take pilgrims on hajj.

Due to global pandemic Covid 19, Maldives did not recieve any quota for Hajj. The permit for Hajj was granted again in 2021, but with a very limied quota of only 453.
