Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has introduced online account opening service with the latest update to its ‘ApplyNow’ portal for a fully online digital onboarding journey.
‘Apply Now’ portal has been integrated with e-Faas which eliminates the need for visiting a branch, waiting in queue to submit applications, sign signature cards and getting verified physically, in a first in the Maldives.
MIB said the service, being introduced in the Maldives so soon, is not something anticipated by the public.
Account opening requests will be verified by the bank through a video verification process. Prospective customers can apply for everyday visa card and MIB platinum visa card in their initial account opening request form. Once the account is opened, the customer will automatically be registered for MIB’s internet banking.
MIB states there will be no difference between accounts opened through their online process and accounts opened by visiting the bank.
Customers can apply for a variety of MIB services online at present as the bank continues to digitalize their services. Faisanet, MIB’s internet banking platform, allows customers to change the pin of their cards, freeze the card among other services online.
