Vocational education to be launched at 28 schools in August

Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali, on Tuesday, revealed efforts were underway to launch vocational education at 28 schools this August.

Responding to a question by Funadhoo MP Mohamed Shahid at Tuesday’s parliamentary sitting – Education Minister Aishath Ali described developing people as an undisputed responsibility of education sector workers.

In this regard, she noted that vocational education will be launched at 28 schools starting August.

“The 28 schools were selected one school from each atoll and notable schools from Male’ area,” she elaborated.

She did not disclose any further details on the matter.

Minister Aishath Ali underscored teaching technical skills in the same manner as regular school subjects as a focus of the Education Ministry.

She added that construction work and similar other types of work often practiced in the Maldives will be taught to the students under this initiative.

She assured of the Education Ministry’s commitment to instilling life skills and vocational skills in the provision of education to students.
