Naeema’s murder: A premediated crime

Sun, through reliable sources, has learned that the brutal murder of the middle-aged woman who was found killed in her home at N. Manadhoo, was premeditated.

Naeema Moosa, 62, Annaarumaage, N. Manadhoo, was found stabbed to death in her bedroom at around 06:30 pm on April 7.

A street sweeper employed by the local council, Naeema had lived alone. She was reported missing by her family at around 06:13 pm on April 7. She was last seen on April 5.

The police had to break open her bedroom door and found her lying dead on the floor.

Three arrests have been made in connection to the murder to date: a 23-year-old and two 21-year-old youths from Manadhoo. One of them, a 21-year-old, however, was arrested from capital Male’ City.

Till the first arrest, police remained tightlipped regarding the murder which shook the small community of Manadhoo to its core. However, following the confession of the suspect, the speed of the investigation has gained traction with various information being uncovered.

Sun has learned that the suspect, who confessed to the crime, confessed many details of the murder to investigating officers. Such information includes the fact that the assailants had been wearing hazmat suits at the time they committed the crime; the location where they hid the weapons and their clothes and the fact they traveled in a car that day.

Police, based on this information, found the location where they burned and buried the clothes including other important evidence. They have also seized the car used by them.

The car is owned by the 21-year-old who was arrested from Male’.

Police, in an official capacity, have not disclosed any further information regarding Naeema’s murder apart from the arrest of three suspects and their remand. However, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed commented that the investigation has seen many breakthroughs.
