Hulhumale' housing flat agreements to be signed with eligible parties

Housing Ministry has said that agreements with the parties eligible for housing flats from Hulhumale’ will be signed within the week.

At a news conference held today at the Ministry, Minister of State for Housing Abdullah Mutthalib said that the delay was caused by a number of legal issues which have now been dealt with, and that the agreements can be signed within the week. He also said that the flats will be handed over once signing of agreements is finished.

He said that the Ministry is currently working to announce the final list of nominees for the B-category housing flats, work of which has also been delayed due to more than 600 complaints submitted to the Ministry regarding the list.

“We are trying our best to announce it before the end of the year. We are pretty sure that this can be done, latest by the first week of January,” said Mutthalib.

He said that all the complaints have now been investigated and that they are now working on further verification.

“Even though we have not individually replied to every single to letter, the issues have all been addressed. We have to double check them. The application forms of the nominees have to be reviewed again,” said Mutthalib.

He also said that they are currently working on a new social housing project, which the Ministry had announced earlier.
