Vice President Faisal Naseem, on Thursday, held a meeting with senior officials from the institutions responsible for overseeing the administration of Hajj this year.

The primary focus of the meeting held at the President’s Office was to explore strategies for ensuring efficient transportation arrangements for the pilgrims.

During the meeting, VP Faisal, underscoring the highly commendable successful organization of transportation of the pilgrims to the Velana International Airport (VIA) over the past four years, expressed gratitude to all relevant institutions for their valuable cooperation and support.

He noted that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had entrusted him with overseeing and closely monitoring the preparations for this year's Hajj season to ensure its smooth execution. In this trajectory, like previous years, he said a dedicated committee would be established to supervise the preparations and operations.

VP Faisal also emphasized the commitment to facilitate seamless transportation for the pilgrims. Arrangements would be made to utilise transportation services from Malé, Hulhumalé, and Villingili, including buses, ferries, and speedboats, to transport the pilgrims to the airport.

Maldives has been allocated a quota of 1,000 pilgrims this year.

Three private tour groups have been approved by the Islamic Ministry to escort hajj pilgrims this year. They are:

  • Al Haramain Hajj and Umrah Company Maldives Pvt. Ltd.
  • Sisilfaru Hajj and Umrah Pvt. Ltd.
  • Al Manasik Pvt. Ltd.

State-run Maldives Hajj Corporation will also be escorting pilgrims.
