Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced it collected MVR 19.1 billion as total revenue from January to April this year.

The figure includes MVR 7.9 billion in tax revenue and MVR 1.2 billion in non-tax revenue.

The monthly revenue collection report released by MIRA on Wednesday shows the authority collected MVR 1.8 billion in April alone. It is a 13.2 percent increase compared to the MVR 1.64 billion in revenue in April 2022.

However, the figure fell 11.2 percent short of projected revenue. According to MIRA, this was mainly due to the decrement in collection of GST, Tourism Land Rent and Airport Taxes and Fees.

Top revenue contributors:

  • TGST: MVR 816.8 million
  • General GST: MVR 381.9 million
  • Income Tax: MVR 176.6 million
  • Green Tax: MVR 94.9 million
  • Airport Service Charge: MVR 75.1 million

The MVR 1.8 billion in revenue collected in April includes USD 77.35 million.
