The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has said that a new operating system software would be introduced starting from tomorrow to speed up the services provided by the agency.
The new software system is the “Tax and Revenue Management” software developed by the renowned German enterprise software developer SAP.
The new system would expedite the processes involved in registration of taxpayers, acceptance of TGST tax statements, BPT statements, and other processes of accepting tax money.
“The form currently used at MIRA for taxpayer registration would, with the introduction of this new software, would be modified. For one thing, one and the same form would be used to register taxpayers, their bank accounts, and signatories who would sign their tax statements, instead of the three different forms now in use”, said an official from MIRA.
The official also said that though the new system would be used in accepting tax statements and money from tourism sector when it is introduced, its operations would be extended to include all tax collection processes conducted by MIRA.
